In a number of projects, I’ve been interested in setting up systems that graphic design can come out of.
For Uday Dandavate’s 2004 lecture, I made a basic set of elements – multiple versions of the typographic information plus some basic illustrations. I then solicited other designers to each create a quick version of this poster using those elements and others of their choosing. I screen printed these posters one on top of another, then printed another layer – a filter of thin black lines – on top of that. This layer blocks out everything but one instance of each piece of information and notes the designer of each of those pieces of information.
