MyBookShelf

eReader Student Work

In this project, students designed an e-reader application for phone, tablet, or desktop. Students learned the various stages of user interface design, from initial research, to deciding on features, to using wireframes to work out the overall structure, to creating a polished visual design.

Students considered the typography of the book’s content, planned the use of type and other design elements to enable users to navigate easily, and brought all those elements together into a unified whole.

They learned and used new skills in Illustrator and Photoshop, designing icons, buttons, and other interface elements.

Kayla Stark’s MyBookShelf shows the process she went through to use stacked books, friendly typography, relaxing colors, and inviting icons to bring an enriching, real-life feel to users’ book shelves.
