Typographic Review

Magazine Student Work

In this Advanced Typography project, students first researched and wrote about one type-related subject. Topics ranged from reviews of design podcasts and movies, to interviews, to research about type designers.

Students then pooled their writing and used that as the content for their magazines.

Students learned and used advanced typesetting skills in Indesign, created grids and systems, and created finished printed magazines.

Mariel Rushing’s Typographic Review uses an oversized format and lots of white space to play with blocks of type as well as blocks of color and images, creating a very grid-like, but still open magazine.
